RANGITATA FERRY. THE Provincial Government is prepared to receive offers for the LEASE of the FERRY RESERVE on the Rangitata, with the improvements thereon, for a term of three years from the Ist July next. The reserve consists of 100 acres on the north side of the river. The improvements comprise an Accommodationhouse, containing 10 rooms, a six-stalled stable, good stock yard and sheep yards. The tenant will receive a conditional license tor one year, from the Ist July, subject to the conditions imposed by the bench of magistrates in similar tenant to keep the premises in good and tenantable repair. Tenders to be sent in to the Provincial Secretary's office not later than the Ist day of June next. The Government will not be bound to accept any tender. TENDERS are required by the Provincial Government of Canterbury for the performance of the undermentioned services. 1. A Steamer to ply between Melbourne and Lyttelton in Canterbury, arriving at Lyttelton from the 25th to the 30th of every month. To remain in Lyttelton not less than 48 hours. To carry all mails free. 2. A Steamer to ply between Lyttelton and Port Chalmers calling' at Akaroa and Timaru (weather permitting) making a trip every fortnight. To carry local and Australian mails free. The steamers to be employed to be subject to the approval of the Provincial Government. Tenders for the above services to state the sum at which the whole or any portion will be undertaken. The penalties recoverable for non-performance of contract will be not exceeding double the amount of bonus for each trip not carried out according to contract. No penalties will be enforced where delay is caused by circumstances which can be proved to the satisfaction of the Provincial Government to be beyond the control of the contractor. Tenders for No. 2 service to state the maximum rate of freight at which passengers and goods will be carried. Contracts to commence on the Ist July next, or such later date within one month as may be agreed upon, and to be terminable one year after commencement; after that time by three months' notice on either side. The lowest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted. Tenders marked " Tenders for Canterbury Steam Service," to be addressed to the Provincial Secretary, Canterbury, New Zealand, and to be forwarded so as to be delivered at the Secretary's Office, Christchurch, not later than Monday, the 29th day of June next. THE Provincial Government of Canterbury, in pursuance of the Canterbury Loan Ordinance, 1862, which empowers the Superintendent of the Province to raise by way of loan a sum not exceeding £500,000, and to issue Debentures to that amount, is prepared to receive TENDERS for a portion of the above sum, to an amount not exceeding £100,000. The Debentures are repayable fifty years from the day of the issue thereof, and will bear interest at the rate of six per cent per annum, payable half-yearly at the election of the purchasers in London, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, or Christchurch. A Sinking Fund will be set apart yearly, at the rate of one per cent per annum, to be increased by accumulated interest, for the purpose of redeeming the principal. Copies of the Canterbury Loan Ordinance, 1862, may be seen at the Offices of the following Agents acting for the Provincial Government of Canterbury:— Messrs. Miles & Co., Melbourne. Gilchrist, Watt & Co., Sydney. Also at the Office of the Provincial Secretary, Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand. Tenders must be sent in under seal, marked " Tenders for Canterbury Loan," and addressed to the Provincial Secretary, Canterbury, New Zealand. Tenders will be received up to the hour of one o'clock p.m. on Wednesday, the Ist Day of July, 1863, when they will be opened by the Provincial Government. Tenders must be for nett cash, to be paid into the Provincial Treasury within two months after the acceptance of any tender. Persons tendering to appear personally at the Office of the Provincial Secretary, Canterbury, or where debarred from personal attendance, to give satisfactory reference through the Agents acting for the Provincial Government. ALL occupiers of land where hedges are overreaching on the above road, are required to trim them and remove the trimmings from the road within one month from this date; in default of which the penalties imposed by law will be strictly enforced. WHEREAS, his Excellency the Governor, in Council, has been pleased to delegate to the Superintendent of the Province of Southland certain powers under the " Diseased Cattle Act, 1861;" and whereas by proclamation dated on the 10th and 26th dayß December, 1861, respectively, published in the Southland Provincial Government Gazette, it is amongst other things declared that the Inspector of Cattle in the Province of Southland, under the provisions of the said Act, shall not be authorised to grant a certificate to land in the Province of Southland cattle coming from Tasmania. And whereas it is expedient to revoke this provision and make other provision in lieu thereof. Now therefore I, the said Superintendent, in virtue of the power in me vested, do hereby proclaim that the Inspector of Cattle is hereby authorised to grant certificates to land in the Province of Southland cattle coming from Tasmania, always provided that such cattle shall be free from the disease called Pleuropneumonia, and that the owner or persons in charge of such cattle shall have previously given to such Inspector satisfactory proof that the cattle sought to be landed were bred in Tasmania, or were depastured in Tasmania for six consecutive months prior to their last embarkation from thence.
