NOTICE TO TIMBER MERCHANTS. THE Provincial Government of Canterbury are prepared to receive tenders for the supply of the following timber • Ist. Piles to be delivered at the Public Works Yard in Christchurch. 50 piles 12 feet long, not less than lOins. diameter at the small end and 15ins. diameter at the large end. 50 ditto 16 feet long, ditto ditto ditto 50 ditto 20 feet long, ditto ditto ditto sth. The same as the last lot, to be delivered at the Public Works Yard in Kaiapoi. The whole of the timber must be of hardwood, the description to be specified in the tenders. No white pine or rimu will be received. Payment will be made at the rate of 75 per cent on delivery, and the balance on completion of the contract. Tenders for one or more of the above lots must be sent to the Provincial Secretary on or before the Ist of September, 1862. Parties tendering will state at what time they will be prepared to complete delivery. The Government do not bind themselves to accept the lowest or ainy tender, and any tender accepted will be subject to the approval of the Provincial Council. THOMAS WM. MAUDE, Provincial Secretary. TENDERS are invited for a Trigono- i nometrical and Topographical Survey | of the country on the sea coast, between the rivers Pareora and Waitangi. A specification may be seen on application to the Chief Surveyor, at the Land office, Christchurch, Sealed Tenders, endorsed " Tender for Survey," to be forwarded to the Provincial Secretary, by noon, on Saturday, the 30th August, 1862. ALL owners or occupiers of land are hereby required to remove or trim any hedges that may have encroached on the public roads, within one month from this date, or proceedings will be commenced against them under the " Roads Ordinance, Session VI., No. 2; Clause 41." THE Provincial Government of Canterbury are prepared to receive Tenders for THREE THOUSAND PLANKS 8 in. x 3 in. full cut, and 16 ft. 8 in. long. To be of some approved hard wood, and to be delivered and stacked above high water mark on the beach at Timaru. The Government will not necessarily accept the lowest or any tender. The tenders must state the time by which delivery will be expected. The acceptance of any tender will be subject to the approval of the Provincial Council.
