DISCOVERY OF GOLD! REWARD OF £1000. THE Provincial Government are prepared to offer a reward of £1000 ior the discovery of a Gold Field within the Province of Canterbury, subject to the following conditions :— 1. That the locality where gold may be discovered shall be reasonably accessible from Christchurch. 2. That the payment of the said sum of £1000 shall be subject to the approval of the Provincial Council, and the decision of Mr. Haast, the Provincial Geologist, as to the paying capabilities and the extent of the field. Licensees of Runs between the Waitangi and the Rangitata who have not yet paid the cost of survey of their runs, will be required to pay 14s per 1000 acres, being the moiety of the cost of the survey of their runs ; and all Licensees are required to make returns of the stock on their respective runs for which printed forms may be obtained at the Land Office.
