The position of the female hospital was objectionable, being very dark, imperfectly ventilated, and close to one of the closets. THE Provincial Government of Canterbury are prepared to receive Tenders for the Alteration of the Market Hall,, for the purposes of a Post Office for Christchurch. Plans and Specifications of the work may be seen at the office of the Provincial Architects, Stone* Buildings, Gloucester street, after Monday, the 17th instant. The greatest care will be taken in the selection of all orders. The orders to be paid for by return of post. The greatest punctuality in all money matters may be relied on. Five per cent, commission will be charged on all orders under £50; 2V above that sum. : A Coach Office will be connected with the business for receipt of parcels. A time-table will be kept for the information of all travellers whether by sea or land. 847
