CHURCH BELL, CHRISTCHURCH. j THE_ Churchwardens, of Christchurch de- j sire to draw the attention of the Parishioners and of ,the inhabitants of the surrounding districts to the unfinished state of the Bell Turrett, which, for want of funds, has remained without progress for the past three months. The ordinary funds of the parish have too many demands on them to be available for this work to any useful extent. The sum still required to complete the structure and for hanging the Bell is estimated at about £80; and an additional sum of £50 will be wanted to *■ repay expenses incurred in re-casting the Bell and -for Freight, &c. The i Churchwardens appeal with confidence to the-public: for subscriptions in aid of this work, on the ground;of its great public utility, as the Bell, when hung, will give notice of the true time, at stated hours, not less than five times every Sunday, and will be heard several miles in all directions from the Church.j it will also summon the several denominations of Christians to their respective places of Worship.
