Mrs Young has received cable advice from Alexandria stating that Miss Bessie loung was among the survivors of No. 1 New Zealand Stationary Hospital, and is quite safe.

Mr Frank D. Passmore, who died recently m London, aged 70 years, came out to New Zealand m the seventies to take control of the constructed railways in the fcorth Island when they were ready to be handed over by the ™ tractors. He introduced the method of keeping railway accounts which furnished the basis of the more elaborate system adopted in later years. When Mr Passmore returned to England he resumed practice as a consulting engineer. °
