AUCKLAND. Oct. 14. : The New Zealand golf championship meeting . was continued to-ady';' in perfect weather. The first. round of the amateur championship and professionals' matches were played. Features of the day were. A. Duncan's record round of 71, and the defeat of B. B. Wood by H. G. Gillies; ; - OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS. In the first round of the. professional championship the results were. Clements beat Blair 5 up and 4 to play, lies beat Watt 2 up, McEwan beat Hood 2 up and 1 to play, McCormick beat Hood 1 up. Forrest, Douglas, Bell and Stewart had byes. AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP. The amateur championship resulted: , J. Harold beat H. E. Troutbeck, 2 and 1. H. Gilljes beat B. B. Wood, 1 up at the 20th. * L. Hales beat D. McCormick, 1 up at the ( 19th. J. Gbss beat T. H. Nicoll, 6 and 5. J. Banks beat G. H. Bell, 1 up -at the 19th. F. C. Fryer beat C. F. Gardner, 3 and 1.
