A CURIOUS AFFAIR.
' NAPIER, August 17. Tlie 'cases in which three Hastings residents were charged with assisting in a demonstration against the police after the hearing of the betting case were before the Court to-day. Defendants applied for a change of venue to Hastings, but though Inspector McDonnell vigorously opposed this no evidence was offered and the cases were dismissed.
