SYDNEY, August IS. - The British Rugby football team met ' the Metropolitan representatives today in fine weather.- and on a good ground. The attendance was about 35,000, and a fast and interesting game was witnessed. The scores were^ — Britain , 16 Metropolitan 13 AUCKLAND v. WELLINGTON. AUCKLAND, August 16. The Auckland-Wellington Rugby football interprovincial match for the , Ranfurly Shield was played here in the presence of about 12,000 people. Auckland won a most sensational game by 24 to 3. Up to the last quarter of an hour the game was either team's, and I then Wellington suddenly , collapsed, and Auckland put on nineteen points in 15 minutes.
