TARANAKI EDUCATION BOARD.
UNSATISFAOTOEY FINANCIAL
POSITION.
At Wednesday's meeting of the Taranaki Eduoation Board (the News reports), Mr Maokay moved, and Mr Wade seconded, that the chairman be sent to Wellington for the purpose of laying before the Minister for Eduoation a complete statement of the financial position, and of the financial requirements of the Board, and that he be instructed to frankly tell the Minister that unless he can see his way to increase the grant to the Board it cannot see how ie can carry on. — Carried on a division by 6 to 1, Mr AUsworth strongly opposing the latter clause of the motion.
Miss Simpson has been appointed assistant at Opunake sohool. For failing to brand sheep after shearing, several defendants were fined at New Plymonth yesterday.
Servants wanted.
The Wellington Cash Drapery Co. are holding a clearing sale of new winter goods, and announce large discounts. Mr P. W. Oliver will provide a first-olass lunoh at Kaponga Bporta on Easter Monday.
