IRISH LAND BILL.
Eeceived March 27, 1.6 a.m. London, March 26. Mr Herbert Gladstone, M.P., speaking at Leeds, upheld Sir H. CampbellBannerman's leadership of the Liberal party, and agreed to Lord Kosebery's Chesterfield speech as the basis of agreement in South Afrioa. He was prepared to stand or fall on Home Rule.
.In the House of Commons, the Irish Land Bill was introduced by the Eight Hon. G. Wyndham, Chief Secretary for Ireland, and read a first time. It created a favorable impression, and provides for the setting aside of three millions for the non-compulsory purchase of estates. The payment is to be made in gold, the Government reselling the land to the tenants if threefifths are willing to buy.
