A Bombay telegram reports tbat the trial of Mrs Lester on the charge of murdering her husband Mr C.F.G-. Lester, late District Superintendent of Police in the Panch Mahals District, was concluded on Tuesday. On the morning of May 9 the body of Mr Lester was found outside h's bedroom door with a gunshot wound in the back, and a post-mortem examination showed that the left lun<' had been pierced by a bullet fired point blank. On the same morniog Mr Littledale, professor of English at Barods College, who was staying at the time in tbe vicinity, received a letter from Mrs Lester, stating that she could endure her husband's treatment no longer, and that she had shot him through tbe heart. In a conversation with Mr Littledale later in the day Mrs Lester charged her husband with having been unreasonably iealous, and with having frequently abused and assaulted her. She at the same time made certain remarks regarding the circumstances attending the crime, which appeared to indicate that her mind was to a certain extent unhinged. It had been a stormy night, and she stated tbat for some time before she got up and shot her husband she had been kept awake by things being blown down by the wind. By the verdict given on Tuesday it w'ai found that Mrs Lester was guilty 0 f culpable homicide, not amounting f 0 murder but that at the same time, she had had the intention to kill the deceased She was sentenced to 10 roars rigorous" imprisonment. °
