A FEARFUL AFFAIR.
On a Saturday night recently at a little colliery village known as Botany Bay, near "Washington, county Durham, a miner named Aill Storey -wont homo mad drunk, and drove his -wife out of doors. Ho then smashed all the windows and door-frames, killed all his pigeons, and finally struck his little girl, aged three years, on the back of the head with a heavy hammer, splitting her skull. He then, it is alleged, placed her on the fire, and put on the blazerjto makethe fire burn more fiercly. The child was burnt to death. The man has been arrested.
