Oh, I can't sing, pleaded a young man, who femininely wanted to be coaxed before gratifying his auditors. Tee, you can. I've heard two or three of your friends say so, persisted a pretty girl, to whom he had been talking. No, I can't he repeated, getting up to go to the piano. Yes, you can. Go on, now, and sing, she urged. Ho said he could not two or three times more, but at last ho was per« suaded, and for some mioutes his voice reverberated most discordantly through the room. Then ho came back smiling to the young lady. Ah, she said wearily, thanks ! Tou were quite right about the singing. His face clouded, and ho never spoke to her again.
