A CLEVER SWINDLER.
AIIBESTKD AT I A.BT. A London despatch on April 28th mentions the arrest at Dresden of Eric Dickson, alias M. Frances Le Feke, of Belfast, and a score of other names. The other day Dickson c.tlled on the British Consul of DreaJon for the purpose of obtaining passpoics for Bussia, in support of which ho produced letters of naturalisation, which the Consul at once saw were false. The Consul communicated with the police, who prompt'y arrested the fascinating stranger, who proved to be the long-ROtight international swindler for whom tho police of at least five countries of Europe have been looking in vain. Dickson's real name is believed to be Ferdinand Kodriguez Alvarez, formeily an officer of tho Guatemalan army. He is a linguist of marvellous ability, and has in the course of his highly successful swindling career passed without exciting suspicion as a German, Portuguese, Persian, Greek, Bulgarian, Argentine, Creole of Mozambique, Brazilian, Englishmau, and Frenchman. His victims have included some of tho biggest people of Europe and many Americans, male and lemale. Four European Governments are now claiming his extradition, but the Saxon police have a little account to settle with him fiist.
