Another Fire.-:—A small unoccupied cottage at the back of the old hotel known as “Munn’a,” was burned down on Friday: morning last. The flames.;were seeu to burst through the roof by Mr Farrar,, market gardener, a resident in the neighborhood. The cottage itself was totally destroyed, but the flames were prevented from spreading to. adjacent buildings. No cause has been assigned for the fire. Band of Hope. —-A. meeting of children "belonging to the Band of Hope took place on Tuesday evening last, in the Presbyterian school-room. A goodly sprinkling of juveniles were present. ' ' . Accident to Cobb’s Coach.— On the morning of Tuesday last, as the inland mail coach was leaving Napier, one of the four horses, being somewhat fresh, shied when on the crown of the hill in the Shakespeare-road; and, notwithstanding that both drags were applied, came down the hili at a gallop.: Even then no serious results would have followed but for the fact of. one of the wheels coming in contact- with a telegraph pole which was lying near Mr Carver’s shop. This unfortunately upset the coach, and precipitated Mr. Peters on-to the hard limestone road. That gentleman fell oh his .face, and was considerably bruised; but, we are glad to add, he was about again on the following day. The mail was conyeyed to Waipawa by Mr. S. G. Caulton’s waggonette. Another result of the accident was the fright of a horse that was engaged in drawing the cart of Mr Stewart, • dairyman, Meanee. This animal set off towards home, and .was not overtaken until about two miles had-been traversed. The horse, when caught, was in. a. perfect lather of perspiration,- but beyohd the. fright the animal: had felt, neither, horse. or .Ccirt had, suffered any damage. -/: . ..
