TO THEEMToi Or iHE TX3EBS. getting old and'worn,out, • Inmy more ; youthful days,-and while I was able,l didmyikity (arduous[ though it was) faithfully, I was used 3aiy afleV day'’(Sabbath Bay aiioetl sometimes) from early dawn to shadowy ete and now lam used quite, as much, if not more, than when I was hale and hearty, and had the use of all my limbs % Wot very long ago, 'a clumsy brute of a steamer (I . won't mention her name, for very shame) came lumping vp against me, shaking, me to the very foundation, and ruining for ever a few of my legs . But what was dame forme ? Nothing ; my doctor (heartless fellow t) said 'I was all right ( that it would be, aioaste -of good money iopatdh me up ; further, that he was in hopes I would soon recover from the very violent shock which he admitted I had received'from the —— Not so, however; I ani getting worse every day ; and note and 'again some sympathising persons when they see my truly dilapidated condition, pause and shake their heads in a most ominous manner. The fact of the matter is, ram in a decline, and the sooner the 'Government get a substitute for myself the better will it be for the credit of the Tort of Napier , And here I may just plainly state, for the benefit of all whom it may concern , that it is not safe to ' discharge cargo on my back ; for, if I receive much more ill-treatment, from whatever cause, one of these fine days one of my unfortunate stumps, will be giving way, and then what a hullabaloo there will be! I Have given ample warning ; I now leave it to those most interested'to see to it, . Mr Editor, knowing you are a fijend to all who suffer and are oppressed, I take the liberty of addressing the above remarks to your valuable paper, in the hope that it will be the means of inducing you (should you deem me worthy) to employ your powerfulpen in the interest of — Tour humble Servant, Custom-rouse Wharf.
