-** - COURT SITTINGS. (Our Correspondent.) Mr Logan Stout held the* Warden aiid Magistrate 's Court here to-day '■ I (Wednesday). Several .cases of being lon licensed preriiises af tPr hours came befo,re him. Since ' none of the defendants could give a reasonable excuse, they each contributed ten shillings, and seven shillings costs, to the Public Account. In the case Hayes v. Milne, common assault,? His Worship dismissed, the case, after pointing out to the defend- ' ant that on this occasion he was inciiiuMl to take a lenient view of tho matter, but warned him against coming before him again on a similar ' charge. The defendant had no right to "cuff" other people's children. > ~ BANK RE-OPENS. Mr Jones, Manager of the Bank of New Zealand, informs •,[ us that, tho Barilc is re-opening their branch here, within a few days. ■; • PERSONAL. Mr Bathe, who has been away for a holiday to Aiickland, has returned andlooks better for his trip. Mrs Benhitt, who with her son. Lieut. Bennitt, have been taking a well-earned holiday, returned to Murehison last week. Lieut. Bennitt has resume,d his interrupted studies at .the Nelson Coltego.- .. We are glad to notice. Mr MeCaskill among us again, after three years absence in France.
