TIMBER WORKERS' CONFERENCE! NATIONALISATION URGED. COAL SHIPPING, ACCIDENT LNSURANCE. WELLINGTON. June 27 Among the business done to-day at the New Zealand Timber Workers' i Conference, a resolution was passed, urging the Government to appoint « competent person to inspect tram line's, bridges, skids and the stacking of timber at rftiwrnills, in order to protect the 1 lives of timbef workers. It 'was also resolved as -follows:— "That in cirder to cope with the everincreasing cost of living, the Government be urged to nationalise as many oV'the Dominion's industries as possible, and. to! give effect" to this, the Conference suggests jthat immediate steps be taken to nationalise the bookificr (sic) •' shipping, and coal industries." ' It was further resolved: "That the Gpvernment -toke.ove; accident insurance as a State monopoly svnd tlmt all the emnlnvers be fOPinelJed to insure their workers in the State office.".
