ST. JOHN'S U-fcLU-KAJJEI. Oa Christmas Eve, ALr Eric R. Moss, gave an organ recital mi St. John's Presbyterian church, and was assisted • by Miss Violet Lamacroft, A.T.C.L., L A.B , and Miss Vera Hannan (vocalists,) "and Mr. C. Moss ('cellest). The attendance was large. Mr. .Eric Moss had selected a capital programme the numbers including "Pil grim's Chorus" from " Tannauser, " "Anaantino" (Lemare), »' x&e Miserere from "n Trovatore," -unoeur de voix humaines," and the ',' Gloria.." from the 12th Mass. Mr. Moss, although a young player, is making rapid progress as an organist, and he is specially fortunate in having such a good instrument as that possessed by St. John's Churok and also a building with such fine acoustic properties. The f pieces that found most favour on Fn- * day evening were "Th* Miserere,'* which, was played with fine expression, Lemaire's "Andantino," 'Choeur de vcix Humaines." Miss Lamaeroft who was in excellent voice, sang "Jesu, Jesu Miserere," with 'cello obligato by Mr. C. Moss, with good effect, the devotional nature of the words be- 1 ing well interpreted. She hacl to respond to an imperative recall. Miss Vera Hannan/ who was similarly honoured sang Sanderson's "God that madest'Earth and Heaven." The sing, er's sweet and expressive voice well suited the somewhat difficult number, and the item was most enjoyable. Mr. C. Moss played as a cello solo "Plamte d' Amtour," in .a manner tnat call- - ed forth the hearty commendation^ of the audience. St. John's Choir, under - the batou of Mr. G. T. Moss, sang the ~ hymn sang "Hark the Herald Angsls m\ Ping," and the Anthem "The Glory of ~-J the Lord" in their usual efficient man--9 Ear. ."'•'■•
