PALMERSTON N., Aug. 24. In the representative football maitch to-day, Manawatu v. Wairarapa, . was won by Manawatu by 15 points to 3. The day was beautiful and the grcxind in, great order. The game in consequence was fast and open. The Manawatu forwards, > who played with fine combination and judgment, practically ran all over tfoe. visitors, .both fore and aft. When the visitor?' backs did -.get going- the Jocal backs were easily able to nullify their efforts. The home men, have.'a. partciularly fast set of forwards and backs this year. The Manawatu team scored nine points in the first speß and six in the second. Wairarapa scored in sthe second, spell an unconverted try. The. Manawatu score consisted of three unconverted tries and two .goals from the field. Wairarapa seemed run to ai stand-still. The Manawatu. team took the aggressive almost all through the game. NELSON V. WANGANUI. 'WANGANUI, Aug. 25. • The Rugby representative match' Nelson v. Wanganui, was played on the Recreation 'Ground on Saturday iii beautiful 'weather and before a good attendance. The result was an easy victory for Wanganui by 35 points to six. The locals ran jpver the visitors in the first spell, whsch ended 24 to nil in Wanganui's favour.
