The Conference of Magistrates of the Orange River Colony discussed the question as to the earliest date at ; which the repatriation ofthe Boers can take pace. The skirmishes which have occurred lately were due to the great area to be covered. The peace emissaries have a difficulty in communicating early the news of peace to the isolated outposts. Three hundred and seventy seven Boers surrendered at Hopetown,- including three hundred and thirty one rebels. Seven thousand Boers have surI rendered up fco Monday morning.
The late John Danks, the Melbourne brass founder, whose brother bas a business in the same line in Wellington died worth L 195.000. Counterfeit shilings are at present being circulated in Auckland. They are said to be a good imitation of the 1901 issue, which date the coins bear.
