LIVE STOCK MARKET. Messrs G. W. Moss and Co report yesterday's sale as follows :— T.he yards were glutted with both cattle and sheep, the entry being the heaviest this season and thequaHty of the stock could not be surpassed. The entry consisted of 52 heavy weight bullocks from Foxton district and 88 heavy weight bullocks from Wanganui ; also 23 bullocks and heifers from Hokitika district and 32 prime handy weight bullocks from "the Grey . Valley. 68 head were unsold, the balance Ibeing cleared at considerable drop on late quotations. 500 sheep were yarded, of which 350 were sold at a decline of from 2s to 3s per head on former rates. We placed the undermentioned stock : — - Fat Cattle — On account of Mr John M'Gregor, 29 heavy weight prime quality bullocks, LBssto L 9 10s. On account of Mr William Weybourne, 15 prime heavy weight bullocks, L 8 to L 9 10s. On account of Mr P. O'Neill, 10 prime heavy weight bullocks from L 8 to L 9. On account of Mr E. Fraser, 14 prime quality handy weight bullocks from L 6 sstoL7 ss. . Fat Sheep — On account of Mr John M'Gregor, 54 heavy crossbred wethers (in wool) 18s 6d. On account of Messrs Adams and Son, 100 prime heavy crossbred wethers (shorn), 14s 9d. On account of Mr D. Donald, 61 prime crossbred wethers arid ewes (in wool) 15s. On account of Mrs M'Laughlin, 57 store sheep (in wool), Bs. Fat Lambs — 27 on account of Mr J. Molloy, 5s 6d. On account of Mr P. Corcoran, 33 at 7s. Fat Pigs— 6 on account of Mr F. Trask from L 2 15s to L 4 10s.
Mark Sprot and Co report at their yards, Preston road, yesterday, there was a surfeit of fat stock entered. The entry of fat cattle comprised no fewer than three ship loads and two local drafts. The trade attracted by the heavy entry mustered in good force, but the competition was anything but spirited. However, all things considered, the vendors had nothing very serious to complain of, and we were enabled, under the adverse circumstances, to practically clear our entry, haviug disposed of 70 head. We sold on account of the following vendors: — Mr J. M'Lennan, 30 prime handy weight bullocks, from L 9 to LB, averaging L 8 15s. On account of Messrs Abraham and Williams, 16 prime bullocks at an average of L 8 7s 6d. On account of Mr T. Ferguson, 8 heifers from L 5 10s to L 4 10s, averaging L 5 ss ; 15 bullocks up to L 7 ss. Fat Sheep— On account of Messrs Abraham and Williams, 80 prime crossbred ewes (shorn), at 13s 9d. On account of. Mr J. M'Lennan, 50 ewes (in wool), at 16s.
