AN EXCITING CONTEST. (Received April 21, 9.15 a.m.) ' London, April 2,0. Mr Shepherd, an' Amerie'an correspondent at the British hoadquartcVs, relates that a Taube flew over Ypres on Sunday am] 'enticed two British aeroplanes over the G'ermnu lines. The Britishers were soon .enveloped jn clouds of shrapnel smoke. Finally., ignoring the shrapnel, they climbpd above the Taube, which withdrew over the British trenches. The British aviators fired, and the Taube circled lower, the Britishers following. In the Ta'ube's final effort to reach home, it was sandwiched between the fire from the aeroplanes and the trenches. Suddenly it crashed to the ground. The pilot was killed and the observer taken prisoner. The contest lasted an hour and a half.
