THE MARLBOROUGH RACES
PEE PRESS ASSOCIATION. Blenheim, April 30. There were favourable conditions for the opening day of the Marlborough R.C.s autumn meeting. The course gavo evidence of the protracted dry spell, but the going was very fair. The meeting was well attendtjd. The totalisator investments amounted to £9122, as against £7368 on the same day last year. Results: — Maiden Hack Race.—Parky 1, Wailand 2, Royal Sleeves 3. Ugbrooke Welter.—Moree 1, Huia 2, Divorce 3. Won by three lengths. Time (five furlongs'). 1.28 4-5. Electric Hack Handicap.—Tho Great Mogul (A. Oliver) 1, Aratiatia 2 ; Merry Guy 3. Won by a head. Time, 1.2 1-5. Marlborough Clip.—Peroneal 7.4 (C. Emmerson) 1, Ceylon 2, Sinapis 3. Also started: Undecided. Ariom, Sea Queen, Merrivouia, Waipunui, Rustic. Peroneal got a flying start, leading all the way, and won easily by four lengths. Time, 2.8. Sea Queen fell, and Price, the jockey, was throAvn, but sustained no injury. Opawa Welter. —Princess Flo 1, Waitoto 2, Indra 3. Commotion, Top Note, and Imarose also ran. Won from start to finish. Time, 1.29 2-5. Flying Handicap.—Moree 1, Leapuki 2, Merry Frank 3. Won easily by three lengtlis. Time, 1.15 2-5. Autumn Handicap.—Glenfern 1, Black Lupin 2, Portland Lady 3. Elevated also ran. Won easily. Time, 1.15 4.5.
