PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. Gisborne, April 30. James Robert Kirk, solocitor, formerly of Naseby, was elected Mayor of Gisborne. The figures were: Kirk 960, Dr. Collins 845, John Sheridan 523. New Plymouth, April 30. The Alayoral election resulted.— G. AY. Browne (re-elected) 1350; J. S. Medley 781. Palmerston N., April 30. Complete returns are not in yet, but it is certain' that the AVednesday half-holiday is carried. At. Cohen and John Cobbe were returned as members of the Wellington Harbour Board. . The Mayor (Air J. A. Nash) was reelected unopposed (received 11 p.m.). Masterton, April 30. The Masterton Borough Council election was keenly contested between labour and commercial interests. Only one straight-out labour candidate was returned, and he was a retiring councillor. 'The Councillors elected were: A. E. Winginberg, R. J. King, F. W. Temple, G. AY. Sellars, AY. Kemball, J. Candy, J. C. Ewington, E. Flanagan, H. J. 0'Leary. Wellington, April 30. For the Mayoralty the final result is: J. P. Luke 9994, D. McLaren 9486. Majority for Luke 508. The Mayoral • contest was very keenly fought, and the _ poll of 19,480 votes was the heaviest on record. Motor-cars were freefy used in trans-' porting voters to the poll, and the labour party worked with a will to reelect their champion. Various tickets, were run for the City Council, Harbour Board, and Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, labour making an endeavour to capture all four city seats. For the Harbour Board Fletcher (chairman), AVright and Trevor (sitting member), and Hunt, with two returns to come, are certain of elec- • tion in that order. A poll of the ratepayers of Hokitika was taken to-day on the question of establishing swimming baths in the town, the ratepayers to provide £350 and a citizens' committee £150 to wards the cost. The poll was carried by 422 votes to 103; informal 16. Great interest was taken in the municipal election and seats on the Borough Council, Harbour Board, and Charitable Aid Board being vigorously contested. West-port, April 30. There was record polling for the elections to-day. Mayoralty: A. Leaver (elected) 1045, T! G. O'Brien 643, T. Samuel 306. Harbour Board (two seats): F. F. Munro 1169, J. Scanlon 972. H. Gillen 779, AY. G. McDonald 718. Munro and Scanlon were elected. Dunedin, April 30. The Alayoral election for Dunedin city resulted as follows: Cr. Stewart 5527, AY. Belcher 4368, Cr. Shacklock 3699. In Mornington S. Solomon, the retiring Mayor defeated A. P. McCarthy by 896 votes to 261. Ashburton, April 30. Only five borough councillors offered themselves for re-election, and all were returned. The following are the names of councillors for the ensuing term: Lloyd, Mavison, Hefford, Ferriman, Priest (all elected), Orr, Christian, Stewart, Buchanan. For the vacancy as borough representative on the Hospital 'Board there were two candidates, the retiring member, Henry Davis, being returned by a majority of 107 over his opponent, Robert Clark. Gore, April 30. Councillor McDougall 433, Councillor Smith 382, Kelly 272. Invercargill, Ajiril 30. For the Mayoralty Duncan McFarlane defeated Andrew Bain by 77 votes. Napier, April 30. J. V. Brown (retiring Mayor) 3129, J. P. Thompson 1121. Christchurch, April 30. "H. Holland (present Mayor) 1869, Dr. Thacker 4055, T. J. Mcßride (Social Democratic candidate) 3477. Timaru, April 30. AY. Anglaud was elected Mayor, against T. Hawkey (present Mayor). Majority for Angland, 28. There were four candidates. Christchurch, April 30. . . New Brighton Mayoralty.—-Mr C. H. Wimrv was elected. Lyttelton.—Mr j. A. Webb. Riccarton. —Air AY. H. Reynolds. Foxton, April 30. The keenest interest yet evinced in any municipal election was shown today. It was thought that honours for the Mayoralty were pretty equally divided between the two candidates Messrs G. H. Stiles and J. L. Harvey, but when the numbers went up it was seen that Air Stiles had a thumping majority, the polling being: Stiles 529, Harvey 199. Taihape, April 30. Taihape yielded second place in interest to none.. The Mayor contest resulted: McLennan 469, Bennett 293, Informal 13. Councillors, Kealey, Stringer, Beban, McCormick, AVilson, Garner, Wrightsou. ' Patea, April 30. The Mayoral election resulted: C. . A. Larcombe 251, Dr. Simmons 150. Christchurch, April 30. In the Central and St. Albans AVards the Citizens' Association ticket was returned. In Sydenham, the Social-Democra- > tie ticket was returned (all re-elect-ed). _ • - ; In Linwood one Social Democratic and two Citizens' Association candidates were returned. The City returned four supporters of the canal to the Harbour Board. The vote on the statutory half-holi-day resulted in Saturday being selected, the voting being: Saturday 9326, Thursday (present half-holiday) 545-1. Napier, April 30. The election of three members representing the Napier Borough resulted as follows for the Harbour Board: J. V. Brown 2278, J. J. Niven 1924, F. AY. AVilliams 1855, AY .J. McGrath 1854, J. D. The Council elections resulted in the return of eleven members of die citizens' ticket and one labour candidate, who was a member of- the last Council. The weather was showery, but polling'was fairly heavy. - Foxton; -May 1. Out'of thirteen candidates the following were elected to the Borough Thomas Henderson, Geo. Coley, G. Whibby, L. Freeman, Geo. Br'aber, Alex. Spiers, D. Green, and S. Read. For the Foxton. Harbour Board there were three • nominations for two seats, and; Mr P. J. Hennessy (present chairman) and F. E. Jenks were elected. Dannevirke, May 1. AVednesday half-holiday w-a.s retained by 97 votes. Marton, May .1. • Mr Miles was elected to the Mayoralty by a majority of 123 votes. The four Labour nominees for the Borough Council.were badly defeated. Auckland, May 1. The-City Council elections resulted in the:.'return of thirteen members'of the old council and five new members including' Miss E. Melville. The Mayors, elected were: Grey Lynn,Mr George Baildon.
