WHELAN—CLAPHAM

A very pretty and popular wedding took place yesterday in St. Andrew's Church, Colyton, the building being crowded by residents of the district as well as the wedding party. The principals in the marriage were Mr James Whelan, third son of the late Mr AY. D. AVhelan. of Tpllamorc, Ireland, and Miss Meta Vellebor Claphain, third daughter of Mr L. Claphain. of Midland Road, Colyton. The religious ceremony was performed by tho Rev. Innes-Jones. The bride, who was beautifully gowned, was attended by her sister. Miss Ivy Claphain, as bridesmaid, and 'Mr C." Cousins acted as best man. The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a silver-backed mirror, and to the bridesmaid a gold pendant;, whilst the bride presented a set of gold sleeve links to the bride- j groom. Tlie re were numerous wedding presents. The honevmon is to be spent at Nelson, and then the young couple will settle down on Mr'AVhelan's farm at Menzie'.s Ford.
