LONDON LETTER.

NEW ZEALANDERS AT HOME,

February 14. Among those presented to the King at the levee held at- St. James , Palace yesterday were three New Zealanders in the person of the Hon. J as. Allen, whose sponsor was the Secretary of State ior the Colonies. Lieut.-Col. D'Arcy Chaytor, and Major T. "W. Macdonald, who were both under the aegis of the Inspectorbeueral of tho Home Forces.

Last Sunday the death occurred at his residence, Rawhiti. Prentis road, Streatham. of Mr John Chynoweth, of the firm of Messrs Edwards and Chynoweth, King Street, London, well known in New Zealand. Mr Chynoweth was 57 years of age.

At the Hotel jtfetropole last Thursday evening Mr C. E. W. Bean invited a few friends, most of them press men, to meet at dinner Colonel Allen. Minister of Defence for the Dominion. Those present included Mr Harry Guile ti, Mr Grigg (London Times), Mr E. H. Short, Mr E. It. Garneey, and Mr C. H. Chomley.

Captain A. C. Temperley of the JNorfolk Regiment, has been appointed as attache to the General Staff of New Zealand, and sails by the Malwa on March 7th. He is married, and has two little children, who with Mrs Tempeiiey, follow by a later boat.

Miss C. E. Dumergue, of Opitiki, lias been staying with relatives, amongst whom are her uncle, the Bishop of Ripon. She leaves for New Zealand by .the Rotorua on the 14th of this month.

. New Zealanders shortly expected in London include the Rev.' F. 13. Cowx, of Waipawa (who, is coming over to study medicine); Mr J. Pugh, of Linwood, Christchurch; Mrs and Miss Wylie, of Wellington; xMrs Archer, of Christchurch, and her eon and daughter: Mr F. M. Wallace; Miss Lorna Maclean, of Wellington, who is to be married shortly after her arrival in .England] Mr J. Roberts, C.M.G., and Mr and Mrs J. Eessey, of Master ton.

Mr G. Schedler. who has been a wine grower in the Auckland district for the past ten years, has been visiting Switzerland, his native country, after having spent some time in Australia. Mr Schedler aleo visited Southern Italy, the Riviera, Algeria, and Germany, whence he travelled up the Rhine to Switzerland. Hβ is now in. London, wliere lie intends to enter business for the present.
