Ilie Northern Coal Company's new mine at Hikuraugi was flooded last week, as it was found that the ground was getting uneasy and more water was coning in, gradually increasing till the workings were Hooded and then overflowed to the main shaft, the pump becoming submerged and thrown out of action. It is calculated that an underground reservoir was struck, and it is considered unlikely that the flooding will be of a permanent nature. NURSERYMEN'S ASSOCIATION.
