ROBERT BARR, NOVELIST.

[Robert Barr was born in Glasgow and brought up in Canada and the United States. He was headmaster of a public school till IS7O, when he entered journalism. He, with Jerome K. Jerome, founded the Idler Magazine. Among his many popular hooks are "In the Midst of Alarms," "The Tempestuous Petticoat," and "Young Lord Stranleigh."]
