A vote of thanks'to the chairman concluded tho meeting.

Mr Walter Crooke, the popular and capable captain of the Park Hockey Club, made some very sensible ami timely remarks "at last night's meeting. They should not play the game, ho said, for the sake of winning a cup, but for its own sake. • In somo branches of sport players tried to "beat the referee," ■and it was that spirit which brought ruination. It could be no real satisfaction to a- player to scoro a. goal by-trickery, but thero was a feeling or pride for the man who, having honestly played the game, had placed the ball between the posts. He, hoped all players would indulge the game for its own.sake, for recreation, and in good fellowship, win or lose. Mr W.. E. Carthew, at the same meeting, also touched upon a matcer which should receive attention by the Association. He had noticed last year, ho said, -that the season terminated: with no presentation of the cup or function of any kind. U would, have been a pleasant course he thought, for the town players to havo entertained the country players. Thoso who journeyed to 'Bo'noons/ii'kl and TTaloomiie last year re member how lavishly they had been entertained by their country friends ri A° me . re * uni ,vas due. He hoped the Association would give consider-ation-to the matter early in the season." . . ■ ..

Mr Crooke supported Mr C'artbew in his remarks, and said the suggestion should be acted upon before the season advanced, so that it would no? be affected by the destination of the cup. The handsome silver cup presented J.»y Mr E. Short to the Hockey Association for competition was upon the table at last night's meeting, having been won by the Park Club.
