The acceptance of the offer would enable Major Bremond to traverse their territory and. enter Fez. M. Monis, the French Premier, in I a proclamation to the tribes, states that France does not intend to occupy fresh territories, and onlj wishes to support the Slier eenau army in order to relieve foreigners in danger and re-establish order under the Sultan's authority. If the rebellion ceases France will stay the march of her troops; otherwise the troops will be forced to pacify country, and severely punish the author of disturbances.
