To the list oi' ol"d residents and public men of Feilding w.ho have passed to the Great Beyond lately, the name of Dr. Frederick A. Monckton has now to be added. The venerable doctor, so well and popularly known in Feilding and district for the past 24 years, was found dead at his gate yesterday afternoon, shortly after 4 o'clock.

The facts are that Dr. Monckton had been out in his trap, and, returning, was coming through the gate to his residence in Campbell street, on the bank of the Oroua river, when he was seen by the lady help at the house to suddenly collapse and fall prostrate to the ground. In order not to alarm Mrs Monckton, the witness to the occurrence, feeling there was something serious the matter, hastened to Mrs Prior, whom she called over. Mrs Prior quickly went to the gate, and felt the doctor's pulse, but the body was already becoming cold. Dr. Johnston was communicated with, and Mrs Monckton was informed of the sad affair.
