The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company., Ltd., Palmerston, report as follows: — At Pohangina on Monday, owing to the rough, boisterous weather and high state of the river, stock did not come forward as advertised. A fair sale, however, resulted, and practically all lines were sold. At Palmerston on Thursday we had a fair entry of cattle and a small yarding of sheep. Bidding at auction, was dull, but moist lines passed were afterwards quitted at prices in favour of purchasers. Quotations : — Pohangina. — Sheep: Cull lambs, 5s 3d ; wether lambs, 9s 9d ; wethers, 16s 6d. Cattle: Weaners, Ids; 21-year steers, £3 6s 6d. Competition at auction was active, nearly all the pens being placed under the hammer. Any stock not sold by this means was speedily placed afterwards, resulting in the whole yarding changing hands at prices favourable to vendors. Feilding, Friday.— There was a heavy yarding of sheep, the entry consisting principally of lambs. Prices were somewhat easier, and a dragging sale resulted, several pens being passed at auction. Quotations : — Apiti. — Sheep : Lambs, culls 5s sd, 7s, 8s 2d, 8s 6d; medium, 8s lid, 10s 2d; mixed ages ewes, 17s. Cattle: Weaners, 10s, 18s 6d, 225; forward cows, £2 11s; 3-year steers, £4 3s; 2*-year steers, £3 12s 6d; 18---month steers, £2, £2 12s 6d. Feilding.— Sheep : Cull lambs, 7s 9d to 8s lOd; medium lambs, 10s 2d to 11s 6d; store ewes, 10s 8d; 2tooth ewes in lamb, 16s 4d; 3 and 4year ewes in lamb, 20s. Cattle: Store cows, 35s to £2; forward heifers', £2 10s; 18-month heifers, 245; fat cows, £3 12b 6d springing cows, £3 2s 6d to £4; 2J-year steers, £3 15s 6d to £4 2s. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., Feilding, report on their Feilding sale: — We had a fair yarding of sheep, and a small one of cattle. Sheep were somewhat dull of sale, especially lambs ; good ewes sold at previous rates. Young cattle met with a good demand. Quotations : — Sheep: Empty ewes, 6s 9d, 7s Id, Bs, 11s lOd; mixed lambs, 10s, 11s 10d: wether lambs, good, 12s 9d; small ewe lambs, 12s, 12s 9d; cull mixed age ewes, 12s 6d, 13s, 13s 6d. Cattle: Fat cows, £4 ss, £4 6s; empty cows, 355, £2 ; mixed 10-month cattle, 32s 6d ; w.eaners, good, 25s 6d, 275. Messrs Gorton and Son report : — At Feilding yesterday the,re was a heavy yarding of both sheep and cattle. The attendance was not as large as usual, and we have to report a decided drop in lambs and low-condi-tioned sheep of all classes. Good breeding ewes and wethers,' however, maintained late rates. Cattle were slightly easier. We were successful in quitting the whole of our entry in sheep but five lots, and the whole of our cattle but two lots. Quotations : — Sheep,: Fat and forward wethers, 18s; store wethers, 15s 8d; small 2tooth wethers, 14s lid ; mixed 2-tooth, 14s 8d; best mixed lambs, 14s Id; others ,11s to 12s 7d; cull lambs, 4s to 8s; G. TurnbulFs 2 to f.f.m. s.m. ewes in lamb, 24s 3d; same vendors' 5-year s.m. ewes in lamb, 18s; mixed age Lincoln ewes in lamb,' 18s Id; Ruamui Romney ewes in lamb, 17s 7d. Cattle: Fat cows, £4 to £4 10s; good cows, £2 10s : mixed cows, 13s 6d to 38s; empty 2-year heifers, 26s to £2 6s; good mixed weaners, 31s; others, 17s 6d; cows in calf, 36s 6d; springing heifers, £2 18s ; weaner steers, 20s; forward bullocks, £5 3s.
