[PBK PBBSB ASSOCIATION.] Timaru, May 31. A four-in-hand drag, with sixteen people going to a country concert, was smashed up before getting out of town. The reins are supposed to have become fouled and the driver lost control of the team which turned round and bolted down Beverley Hill and turning a sharp corner to town capsized the vehicle. Miss Foley of Dunedin sustained a fracture of the skull, the driver (Johnson) was very much bruised, Miss O'Connor also, and her brother had 3$ inches of hat pin extracted. The whole party were much shaken. Ashburton, May 31. The committee of the Band Contest to be held on October 9th and 10th have decided to give prizes amounting to about £225. For the test selection the amounts are — Ist prize- £60, second £30, third £20, fourth £10. For quickstep — Ist prize £25, second £15, third £10, fourth £5. For quartettes and solos gold and silver medals will be awarded. Entries close on July 6th.
