BUNNY THORPE.

J (Our Own Correspondent.) : On Friday evening a grand social I was held in our Public Hall, in aid of the Anglican Church Extension j Fund, and was an unqualified success. 1 There was one of the largest audiences : ever present in the hall. Mr G. H. Espiner, in a few well-chosen words, opened the proceedings by explaining the reasons tor getting funds for the Church, and thanking the large audience for their support. Besides various amusements, including severa 1 dances, the following programme was gone through most successfully : — Mr D. Maclean, song; Mrs Blake, song; Miss Nelson, recitation; Mr G. Banson, song; Miss Voss, song; Mr Newey, song; Miss Connie Maclean, song; Mr B. Leiz, recitation; Miss Jackson, song; Mr Slipper, song; Miss C. Maclean, song; Mrs Spiers, song; Mr D. Maclean, song; Mr B. Leiz, recitation. The accompaniments were nicely played by Miss Smith, of Colyton, and Miss Augusta Scheidt. The music for the dances was also contributed to by those ladies and also Mr Lucas and Mr Turner, who played splendidly on a fine accordeon also gave grand dance music. The refreshments contributed by the ladies of the Anglican congregation were superb and plentiful, and the ladies worked well in attending to the visitors. Mr Spiers made a capable M.C., and, in fact, the success of the whole affair (ably assisted by Messrs Hawker and Bailey) may be principally attributed to his indefatigable zeal. I understand somewhere about £10 was realised, which may be considered highly satisfactory. . As I was just closing this I have been informed that special thanks arc due to the Misses Scheidt for their great and kindly assistance, and their liberal gifts of provisions; also to Mr Duncan Maclean, who has worked earnestly for the good cause, and who materially assisted Mr Spiers in hif efforts. _ - ____ ——I _ — _
