THE KIMBOLTON POST OFFICE.

TO THB KDITOB,

Siu, — I have seen so much about the Post Office site that I think it is only right to give my opinion of it, having been a resident there for 20 years. I know the wind which blows from Edwards-street : it is cold but sweet. If Mr Hansen had let Edwards-street alone I would not have interfered. The wind which blows from Edward-street no doubt is strong, but the wind from the south is stronger, for it blew Mr Hansen to Land's End, and if it blows much stronger it will blow him into the gully with the Post Office on top of him, and what will we do then without leading merchant? Mr Hansen seems greatly afraid of more shops going up if the Post Office is shifted to Edwards-street, and that would be the end of the tea shops, but there are as important places elsewhere. The Edwards-street site is opposite the police camp arid tho doctor. Would it not be very awkward if the local constable allowed a notorious criminal to escape while he went to Land'sJ'End to the Post Offioe for instructions. Besides, Kimbolton will shortly sing out for a Courthouse, and there is land enough on the site for the two buildings. The new building ought to have been crested long ago, anil if those quarrelling over it had any respect for the lady who has to do the postal work in the present building they would facilitate its erection, but not on a worse site than the present. Of course the stable and blacksmith's shop are two respectable places enough, but hardly the ones to choose for next door to a Government office. I understand Mr Poole gave £5 towards the sito purchased, an ovidenco that he is anxious for the settlement of the matter. The Secretary of the Chief Post Office, Mr Gray, approved of the Edward-street site, as did also the Feilding Postmaster, and surely they are two who ought to know best. — Yours, <S,c,

G. RICHABDSOK. Feilding, July 31, 1906.
