Joseph Myers was charged before Mr Justice Deuniston on five indictments for forging and uttering Messrs Stringer and Wilford are for the prosecution and Mr Hanlan for tbe defence. At the outset tbe latter took exception to uttering being included in tbe indictment ou the ground tbat Myers was extradicted for forgery only, and could not be tried under the extradiction law for anything else.
After some argument as to whether
this was the proper time to raise tbe question, Mr Hanlon said he would bring it up later on.
Evidence is now being taken as to tbe alleged forgery of two bills for £100 and and £386, purporting to be signed M C O'Connell. The latter denied tbey were his signatures. He had never signed any bills for the prisoner, but had endorsed his cheques. Myers at one time owed bim for £800, but he had got £400 back.
