BREAK WITH SPAIN
RECOMMENDATION TO THE FRENCH GOVERNMENT
Rec. 10 a.m. LONDON, May 25. The French Foreign Affairs Committee has recommended the Government to break off relations with Spain and that France should propose to the other Allied Governments that steps be taken to force the resignation of General Franco.
Reuters Paris correspondent, commenting on the committee's recommendation, says that General de Gaulle himself hitherto has not been anxious to precipitate a Franco^Spanish crisis, partly for economic reasons. However, the difficulty of finding means« for transferring Laval from Barcelona to France is now exasperating French public opinion. There is no confirmation of the earlier report that the Spanish authorities have returned Laval to Germany.
