ANOTHER TERRIFIC ATTACK

LONDON, May 25. American Supei;-Fortresses have struck another shattering blow at ToMo. An official Washington announcement says that a verylarge force of the giant bombers took part in this latest assault, the second on the Japanese capital within 48 hours. Correspondents on Guam say that 500 Super-Fortresses dropped about 4000 tons of fire bombs over a target area which included the whole of southern and central Tokio. This target area is .packed with warehouses, docks, munition factories and vast storage dumps of military equipment. The commander of the 21st Bomber Command says that in the previous attack more than three square miles of Tokio were burnt out. A Washington announcement says that 12 Fortresses were lost through ,enemy action in the target area in that attack, due mainly to a heavy concentration of anti-aircraft guns in the Japanese capital. This %yas the biggest loss yet suffered on a Super-Fortress mission.
