SUGAR AND BUTTER

FRESH REGISTRATION

The system of registration of consumers with retailers for supplies of SU?^r^ nd butter fe to be continued with the issue of the new ration book, states Mr. J. E. Thomas, Food and Rationing Controller. All previous registrations are automatically cancelled with the expiry of the food coupons in the old book, and every consumer must reregister during the first week of November with the new ration books.

The procedure is the same as last year. Consumers are to write name and address on the sugar and butter counterfoils and take the book to the retailer with whom they wish to register. The retailer will tear out the counterfoil and enter his name in the space in the inside front cover of the ration book. The retailer will collect the counterfoils and forward them with a declaration of the number of consumers registered for each commodity to reach his local rationing officer not later than November 11 Where the priority egg rationing scheme is in operation, consumers may register for priority eggs any time they desire, although early registration will avoid delay in allocations when supplies become shorter than they are at present. The system of registration is the same as "for sugar and butter.

A consumer may register with any licensed retailer, and with different retailers for butter, sugar, and priority eggs if he so desires.
