MINIATURE RIFLES
Members of the Wellington South Miniature Rifle Club are competing for a trophy covering the best three out of foiir shoots in October. Leading scores during a' recent shoot were A. Ward 68, L. Smith 66,. C. Adams 66, C. Nyberg 62, and Miss Stratford 61.
In the Melrose Home Guard (Reserve) Miniature Rifle Club competitions V. Wilson's team again won the club's badges with a score of 252 (N. Boag 68, V. Wilson 65, A. B. Unsworth 60, and K. Turner 59). Other scores were: Team, A Tattrass's 240, Mawhinney's 231, and Waterworks 228; individual, F. Waterworth 67, F. Alquist 6(5, J. Biddle and \V. Lewis 65 each., D. Quinn 64, E. Cunningham Gl, and J. Wilton 60. At an outdoor shoot under ' gusty conditions the leading scores were:—soyds, A. N. Boag 69, F. Waterworth and V. Wilson 67 each, W. McKeown 66, W. Lewis and K. Turner G5 each; 100 yds, F. Waterworth 61, Shennan 60, Wilson 57, and Boag 56.
The Melrose and Island Bay Home Guard (Reserve) Clubs have held their first home-and-home match (seveii-a-side), Island Bay winning. Details: Island Bay (V. Wilson 70, V. Sheargold CG, B. L. White 05, H. R. White 65, E. B. Pennington C 3, J. D. Chapman 61, and P. C. Collier 60), 450; Melrose (A. N. Boag 68, Watervvorth 67, Biddle 65, Quinn 64, Lewis 65, Wilton 60, C. V. Nattrass 50) 439 At the Public Service, Island Bay Home Guard (Reserve), and Social Security Clubs' shoot on the Buckle Street range, there were 14 scores in excess of 79 (possible 90) One member made the possible.
