OBITUARY
LT.-COL. SOMMERVILLE
The death has occurred in Auckland of Lieutenant-Colonel Clive Sommerville, D.5.0., late of Dannevirke, a senior officer of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force in the last war. Lieutenant-Colonel Sommerville, who was 62, was born in Wellington and as a young man took up farming. As an officer in the Wellington Mounted Rifles he was accepted for overseas servce in March, 1915, with the rank of captain. Later he transferred to the artillery, commanding the 12th Battery in France, and eventually the 2nd Artillery Brigade. He was three times mentioned in dispatches and was awarded the D.S.O. in 1919.
Joseph Michael Nolan, labourer, 44, was sentenced to seven days' hard labour today by Mr. J; h. Stout S.M. for using obscene, language in Vivian Street yesterday. •' .
