HUTT GARDENS
CO-OPERATIVE SYSTEM
As thesxesult of a 1 canvass of Lower Hutt City made by the E.P.S. organisation, it has been found that almost every home is making provision for adequate home gardening. The local "Dig for Victory" Commit, tee, which has been meeting regularly to deal with the reports as they come to hand, met again on Monday, and a final analysis of the reports was made. It was found that 91 persons had spare land which the owners were willing to make available; 85 persons required land; 179 persons required assistance in digging; and 64 persons were.prepared to supply labour. The lists, giving names and addresses; have been handed over to Mr. S. J. Sawell, administrative officer of the E.P.S., at the City Council office, and may be seen by residents who desire an answer to any of the requests made on the forms filled in by E.P.S. personnel.
In the thousands of visits paid by the E.P.S. wardens, very few people were found requiring either help or land. In this work E.P.S. wardens and members of the information unit have cooperated with the Dig for Victory Committee. The committee expressed its thanks to all who have assisted and to Mr. Sawell for his work and interest.
