HERE AND THERE
Prisoners of War in Italy.
A gathering of next-of-kin of prisoners of war in Italy has been arranged by the women's section of the Wellington R.S.A., and will take place on Tuesday, August "1, at 2.30 p.m., at the National Club, 166 Featherston Street. Repatriated prisoners of war from Italy will be present. The French Club. The programme at the last meeting of the Cercle Francais was arranged by Mrs. dv Chateau. In one play, "Je n'oublie jamais rien," the actors were Professor A. C. Keys, of Auckland, who made a welcome reappearance on the French Club stage, and Madame R. Finlayson. The second play was a comedy by Labiche entitled "La Grammaire," the story of an ambitious but illiterate candidate for political honours. Those who took part were Mesdames Finlayson and Jefferies, and Messrs. Griffin, Charlton, and Wells. Musical items were given by Miss Shirley Craig, pianist, and Miss Pauline Craig, violinist. The hostess for the evening was Madame Young and the conversation circle was conducted by Miss S. Laurence.
