UNITED FIRE BOARD
JOHNSONVILLE INCLUDED
The new United Wellington Fire Board, rendered necessary by the extension of boundaries to include Johnson ville, met for the first time last week. There is no change in the personnel as it was a month ago, though then Mr. D. S. N. McCartney replaced Mr. G. C. Edwards, retired. Johnsonville has asked Mr. W. J. Gaudin, City Council representative on the board, to give attention to matters affecting its district. Mr. S. S. Dean v/as appointed chairman.
The estimates for the current year provided for expenditure amounting to £52,900, an increase on that for last year of about £4000. The Wellington City Council is asked to find £26,250, the insurance companies a like amount, and the Government £400.
The balance of the Dennis pumps ordered from England last year were reported to have arrived.
