EARL BROWDER'S SENTENCE COMMUTED
WASHINGTON, May 15.
The sentence of four years' imprisonment on Earl Browder, the former general secretary of the, American Communist Party, has • been, commuted to the time which he has already served —13 months. A ' White House announcement said that President Roosevelt believed the commuta* tion would tend to promote national unity and allay a feeling which might exist in some minds that the unusually long sentence against Br.owd.er was imposed because of his political views.
