TEACHERS CONFER
AID IN REHABILITATION
As rehabilitation problems would involve considerable educational and vocational readjustment, the conference of the. New Zealand Technical School Teachers' Association decided that the Government should be strongly urged to include an officer of the Education Department on the Rehabilitation Council and Board. Mr. S. W Gaspar, a member of the Rehabilitation Board and Council, attended to discuss rehabilitation problems, with the result that the association appointed a committee to draw up a training scheme.
Similar opinions were expressed on Army education. It was considered that the Government should arrange for the Education Department to advise immediately on the establishment and maintenance of a system of education for men and women on active service at home or abroad, which would integrate closely with Army training.
. During the conference visits were received from the Minister of Education (Mr. Mason) and the Director of Education (Dr. C. E. Beeby).
' .Ving Commander Keane gave an address on "Model Aeroplane Making in the Technical Schools," for training purposes, and as he pointed out that this could be a very useful war effort, the association decided to give his suggestion full support.
After the annual report and financial statement had been adopted, it was unanimously decided that a further £200 be invested in the Liberty Loan.
The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President. Mr L. D. Mclver (Dunedin): vice-presi-dents, Miss C. E. Robinson (Christchurch), and Mr. B. M. Davis (Auckland); executive, Messrs. T. L. James, H. M. Scott, G. A. Thompson, G. W. Drake, A. A. Kirk. W. P. McDougall, and J. C. Findlater; representatives on the Appeal Board, Messrs. H. A.
