MORE SALVAGE IN BRITAIN

Salvage totals- continue to soar in Britain, and munition making is benefiting accordingly. During the first three months, the official collection of paper amounted to 67,663 tons and in the same period this year the tonnage has risen to 120,460.
The metal figures for the same period rose from 56,229 tons in 1941 to 61,339 tons this year. Kitchen waste increased from 291,840 tons to 632,420 tons in 1942, enabling 77,000 extra pigs to be fed this year.
By contrast, the collection o£ bones dropped from 2723 tons in 1941 to 2071 tons for 1942.—8.0. W.
