CRAWFORD HILL TENNIS CLUB
The official opening day of the Crawford Hill Tennis Club • was held last Saturday, when some 75 members and friends assembled at the club's courts in Kilbirnie. The-president, Mr. B. C. Ash win, in 'declaring the season open, referred to the number of men from the, club who were serving overseas and training in the local-camps. Reference was also made of club members (both men and women), who were spending a lot of time undergoing training for the civilian defence and yet retaining their membership. It is the intention of the club to arrange a full season's matchv programme and make every endeavour to carry on the club's activities as in normal times. . Officers for 1941-42 "are as follows:— President, Mr. B. C. Ashwin; vicepresidents, Messrs. C. H. Chapman, M.P., R. McKeen, M.P M P. J. Kivell, A. E. Wells; secretary, Mr. X.. Smyth; treasurer, Mr. C. A. Shaw; club captain, Mr. R. Collins; committee, Messrs. C. R. Barringer, A. D. Collins, R. G. Collins, E. Lindsay, E. G. Mann, J. Robinson; ladies' committee, Misses E. Barclay, D. Humphreys, J. Kivell, .P. Lindsay, B. Williams; hon. auditor, Mr. L. G. Petrie.
